Oakhill College Waterfront Chukka Festival 16-19 February 2017
We had the wonderful opportunity of being involved with the Oakhill College Waterfront Chukka Festival which took place from the 16th February until Sunday the 19th. There were 14 girls and 11 boys teams from 17 schools and a total of 370 participants. www.oakhillschool.co.za.

We kicked off the year with our first event at Colin Mann Primary School. They had their Foundation Phase Fun Day on Saturday 21/01/2017. Activities included Bean Bag Race, Potato & Spoon Race and Hula-Hoop Race. No Fun Day would have been complete without a Moms, Dads, Siblings, Teachers & of course coaches Race!

St. Dominic's Annual Camp Out - 07/10/2016
On Friday night (07/10/2016) St. Dominic's had their Annual Camp Out. For the first time ever we set up a Bicycle trail around the school! All the learners had a great time from the starting point to the end, once they were done they made their way to the Activities area. The Bicycle trail was lit up with Glow Sticks leading to different stations on the trail that our coaches had set up for the learners to complete before moving on!

St.Benedicts Junior Preparatory's Sports Day
What a Fun Day Saturday (23/07/2016) was! It was St.Benedicts Junior Preparatory's Sports Day. The boys had a great time with the "Mini Olympics". The day started out with St.Benedict's Pipe Band leading the March. The activities throughout the day included sprints & high jump. A great way to finish off was to have Moms, Dads & siblings races and of course Ed surprised the kids by coming and handing out the medals & trophies. Well done to Mazenod for winning the Spirit Trophy!

St. Dominic's philosophy of a "positive attitude determines your altitude" came true on Saturday night with St. Dominic's winning the SAMCA National Championships 2016! An amazing effort by all. A big thank you to all of the supporters!

Brake & Tyre Watch – 16/03/2016
We took part in Fleetwatch Magazine’s Brake & Tyre Watch event in conjunction with Imperial Road Safety in Estcourt. The Brake & Tyre Watch addresses un-roadworthy trucks and heavy commercial vehicles by checking brakes, tyres and other parts that may have an impact on the safety of the vehicle.
Head Coaches Weekend – March 2016
Once again we had our head coaches weekend at the beautiful WagonDrift Game Lodge. There were team building exercises as well as some fun with paintballs. A big thank you Sid Webster an Educational Kinesiologist who came out to WagonDrift and spent the day with us. Well done to Kefiloe for recieving the Head Coaches award for the first term!
Hyundai Rock The Run – 03/06/2016
What a rocking day Sunday was! We were at the Hyundai Rock The Run with Imperial Road Safety. Bongi the Road Safety Mascot came out for the day and interacted with the runners and children and even got on stage with one of the live bands. Mi Casa, 2nd life & Prime Circle put on a great show and everyone had an awesome day.
St Dominic’s Mix & Mingle – 27/02/2016
St. Dominics School For Girls in Boksburg had their Mix & Mingle on Saturday Night (27/02/2016). It was a fun filled evening full of activities for the kiddies while their parents mixed & mingled. Ed the red crocodile even came to surprise the kids and mingled with the parents. The St Dom’s Drum Majorettes ended off the evening with a beautiful show.

On Saturday 20th February Active Education Foundation had their first party for 2016! An Ice Cream themed Party! What more could a child want? Ice cream of course! (from mm Moments Ice Cream Parlour), swimming, delicious ice cream cone cup cakes, fun and games, all at a beautiful party venue, Trees Eco Fun Park!

Let’s Play Physical Education Challenge Reaches New Milestone
Everyone knows that Physed is for everyone and involves 100% of the learners, well so too is the challenge: today at Motlotlo Primary School our first visually impaired learner completed the challenge. He managed through with the help of the coaches to participate along with his peers. Motlotlo Primary School is situated in Vereeniging and achieved a score of 58 which is better than most schools, out of 79 schools that have competed they are 33rd! What a fun filled weekend! On Friday 12th Feb we were at St. Dominic’s Valentine’s Day. There were tons of activities and even the Nae Nae dance! On Saturday 13th Feb we were at the St. Benedict’s Mini Cricket and there was a surprise visit from our Active Ed guys handing out chocolates to all the woman there for Valentine’s Day.

On Thursday 5th November was the Let’s Play Physed Challenge Finals, as well as Let’s Plays 10th Birthday! Well done to Riverview Primary School (Western Cape) for winning the Let’s Play Physed Challenge!!! They will be receiving the R1.2 Million Multi Purpose Sporting Facility donated by The Sports Trust. 2nd place went to Laerskool Rustenburg (North West) & in 3rd place was Rosendal Primary School (Northern Cape). The 9 schools gave it their all and the excitement was felt and seen on Super Sport live from all 9 Provinces! Mail and Guardian Investing in the Future & Drivers of Change Awards
I am writing this to thank you for all your support over the years. As you may have been aware this year, Active Education along with Supersports Lets Play implemented and ran the Physical Education Challenge.The challenge targeted the grade 4 learners aged between 10 and 11.The objective was to see how many learners could complete an obstacle course, consisting of physical education exercises, in 45minutes (the length of a physical education period)Over 440 000 learners were interacted with and over 36 000 participated in the challenge.The learners were participating for a R1,2 million sports court donated by the sports trust.As a result of this success, the physical education challenge was nominated for an award in the “Mail and Guardian Investing in the future & drivers of change awards” we were nominated in Investing in the youth development category.On the 29th October it was announced that the Challenge had won the award.I am very proud of my team for this achievement and wanted to share with you our success, because if it wasn’t for such forward thinking individuals like yourselves, Active Education would not be where it is today.Congrats again to my team AWESOME!
ABI Indigenous Games Finals
A big thank you to ABI for the opportunity of being involved in the Indigenous Games. The 20th October 2015 was the Finals! The top 15 schools in the Province competed. Congratulations to Job Maseko Primary School for winning 1st place! 2nd place went to Makgethe Primary School & 3rd place went to Kaalfontein Primary School. Well done to all the teams that participated you all did very well!
Head Coach Weekend
We took all of our head coaches to WagonDrift Game Lodge for the Head Coaches Weekend. We did some leadership and responsibility training with them. We also had great fun doing some orienteering in the bush with game all around and even shooting paintballs blindfolded with our team members directing us where to shoot.
Baby Car Seat Collections 2015
In Cape Town during Transport month (October 2015) The car seats for kids campaign encourages the donation of car seats by the public. They are restored, safety checked and redistributed. Nelson Mandela Day 2015
For Madiba Day 18 July 2015 we headed off to Nelson Mandela’s Birth Place in Qunu in the Eastern Cape. A lot was happening at The Nelson Mandela Museum. To start the day off there was a 6.7 Km’s Fun Run with Let’s Play for all the local Children. Once all the runners made it back to the Museum the fun really started! We had Obstacle Courses set out for the Children. There was also tennis being played and even boxing! The children had a blast and were kept busy.
