The Steers Super Skills Contest is an exciting programme to stimulate Physical Education within the schools of South Africa. Active Education through its partnership with the Department of Basic Education has developed a skills programme that allows learner of all ages to participate.
This contest is all about creating a team and using teamwork to achieve a common goal by following the provided lesson plans and utilising the equipment supplied. Teachers are better equipped to promote and participate in physical education.
The Contest consists of 6 skills and will appeal to both boys and girls, also due to the nature of the challenges they appeal, and can be completed by, any child in primary school, from a seven-year-old grade one to a thirteen-year-old grade seven.
A team of 12 will be put through a skills obstacle course of six 2 minute stations. The team must consist of six boys and six girls.
What’s at stake?
The top primary school in each province will compete for the title with the grand overall prize being a VW Combi to the winning school.
Who may Enter?
In order to participate the school will be invited by a Steers store to participate in the challenge. The School will be required to work closely with the Steers store and report on the status of the challenge.
